Vell departs, leaving Gepin-Nor convinced of his own self-righteousness
“Y
ou can hide behind your cloth and say you act in the name of the Church, providing nothing but rhetoric and empty promises. But I’m going to help Josephine, despite the Circle, and despite you,” the wizard replied, his tone morose and final. “I’m taking your advice, and I’m going to my death.”
“Then go to your death, wizard! It’s the wisest thing you’ll ever do!”
The healerpriest turned and looked away, utterly convinced of his own self-righteousness. Vell looked at him one last time—a final time, he knew—then descended the staircase and was gone, leaving the overweight priest mired in his own convictions and frustration.
